Not every truss project fits a standard template. The Baycliff project in Shakopee, MN required custom curved roof trusses -- an architectural detail that most truss suppliers cannot reliably engineer, manufacture, and deliver without compromising the design.
JL Schwieters worked with the lumberyard and design team from preliminary blueprints through final installation, exploring different curve profiles before landing on the configuration that aligned with the architectural specifications. Custom curves require high-strength MSR (machine stress-rated) lumber to achieve the spans and structural performance the design demands -- standard framing lumber will not hold the geometry under load.
Site conditions at Baycliff added another layer of complexity. With a tight layout, we could not deliver all trusses at once and stage them on site. Instead, we coordinated multiple phased deliveries, sequencing each load to arrive at the specific areas where installation was active -- which kept the site organized and the crew moving without storage problems slowing things down.

Standard framing lumber has too much variability in strength for extreme custom truss geometry.
